Thursday Meeting - Speaker Richard Swaine COPP on Hayling Richard Swaine has undertaken detailed research on the Combined Operations Pilotage Parties (COPP) and will speak about their dangerous operations in North Africa, Sicily, Normandy and in the Far East. Thursday Metting with a speaker The Pursuit and Sinking of the Bismark David Bickerton. Host K REDFORD 80 years ago, on 24th May, more than a hundred British warships were involved in a desperate 5 day, 1,750 mile hunt for the mighty German battleship Bismarck, which disappeared for more than 24 hours and was almost within reach of safety before it was tracked down. David Bickerton’s father was a crewman aboard HMS Dorsetshire which was involved in the final showdown. Host: K Redford
