Rotary in the Community – The Roberts Centre Portsmouth
On 7 August 2025 the Rotary Club of Portsmouth North hosted the Chief Executive of the Roberts Centre in Portsmouth Mel Goddard. The Roberts Centre is a well-established community organisation dedicated to supporting families and individuals facing challenging circumstances. Situated in the heart of Portsmouth, the Centre provides a range of services designed to improve the lives of vulnerable children, families, and adults.
Services offered by the Roberts Centre typically include family support programmes, homelessness prevention initiatives, and child contact services. The Centre plays a vital role in helping those at risk of homelessness, offering guidance and practical assistance to ensure families can remain together and find stable accommodation. Additionally, its child contact services provide a safe and supportive environment for children to maintain relationships with parents and relatives, especially where family breakdown or separation has occurred.
The Roberts Centre works closely with local authorities and other agencies, acting as a pivotal resource within Portsmouth’s community. It is recognised for its commitment to helping people overcome adversity, promoting social inclusion, and empowering individuals to build brighter futures.
The Club’s President Adrian Brookes presented the CEO with a cheque for £500 as a contribution to the charities’ funding.
The Rotary Club of Portsmouth North meets most Thursday evenings at the Langstone Quays Resort Hotel on Hayling Island. Anyone wishing to learn more about the Club and its membership please visit the Club’s website at www.rotaryportsmouthnorth.co.uk or email contact@rotaryportsmouthnorth.co.uk
